Judo Manitoba is proud to share that our Provincial Head Coach, Airton Nakamura, has received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Manitoba).
The award is presented to residents of Manitoba who have made a contribution to Manitoba, Canada or a particular region with a strong focus on community-mindedness, service, and reconciliation.
Please join us in congratulating Sensei Nakamura!
Here’s what Sensei Nakamura had to say:
Today I received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Manitoba) in a ceremony held at the Manitoba Legislative Building by indication of my good friend Wab Kinew.
I am very honoured to receive it alongside many other well deserved recipients. I am not sure if I am the most rightful person to receive this award but I am for sure very thankful to all my family, friends, club members and their families, Judo Manitoba and Judo Canada that have always supported and trusted me as Judo Coach.
A huge thank you to Mr Wab for selecting me to receive this award. It is an honour to receive it and it is an honour to call you my friend.
Another big thank you to my wife Maye for understanding my passion and supporting me with everything I need.
Thank you!!!
