Remembering Alice Dennis
If you started your judo career in Manitoba, chances are that, at some point during a tournament, you heard the call: “Alice! Alice!”
Alice Dennis would be there, checking on athletes that might have got injured. Her skills to apply sports tape were hard to match.
Alice was part of the judo family for over 35 years. At tournaments or training sessions, she would greet you with a warm hug and her unique smile.
Alice left us on December 14, 2021. But she will continue to be with us through our memories.
Thank you Alice for all the years of caring and support!

Black Belt Grading 2021
The Black Belt Grading was held this week at the U of M Dojo. All members of the Grading Committee were present and eighteen candidates were tested on all the basics and on the Katas appropriate to their levels. I am happy to report that everyone tested passed and we now have 11 new shodans, 5 new nidans and two new sandans. It was the largest group to be graded in my memory and they, and their Senseis, all deserve a hearty round of congratulations.
